Hunting beyond your village
Choose your next hunting grounds after the starter dungeon, compare solo and group options, and learn the guide’s Cruma Tower and camping advice.
Abandoned Camp: the next step
By level 20 or 25, you will have outgrown your starter dungeon. The guide recommends moving to Abandoned Camp, where you can continue hunting well into your late 20s. Ol Mahum Patrols and Stragglers are easier opponents; Captains and Commanders are more difficult and usually require a group. For a profitable, repeatable adena quest in this area, speak to Leopold in Gludin.
Group destinations after Abandoned Camp
Once you have outgrown Abandoned Camp, there are several places to move on to. The guide recommends visiting the following destinations only with a group, especially at lower levels.
Orc Barracks
The Orc Barracks north of Gludin feature dungeon-type monsters (double HP, double experience), and an adena quest, which you can get from Piotur just north of the barracks.
Wastelands
The Wastelands are a great place to hunt and the Punchers and Granite Golems there drop D-grade Enchant Armor/Weapon Scrolls. (Archers might want to hunt elsewhere, since most golem-type monsters are resistant to arrows.)
Forgotten Temple
The Forgotten Temple is great for experience, though dangerous for lower-level characters.
Options for solo hunting
If you're looking to solo, you might try the outer rings of Cruma Tower (Gray Ants, Giant Mist Leeches), or the area around Dion (Hobgoblins, Dire Wolves, Enku Orcs) or Floran (Monster Eyes, Dire Wolves).
Giran and Death Pass
Later in your career you may wish to move to Giran and hunt monsters around there (Wyrms, Guardian Basillisks, Harpies).
Wyrms and Harpies are a good bet for archers, since they are slow and take 10% more damage from arrows.
If you're in a group, go north from Giran into Death Pass and hunt Fettered Souls, which are also double HP/experience monsters. They're tough, but with a group you can kill them quickly for large amounts of experience.
Execution Ground and a return to Wastelands
The Execution Ground is also a good place for experience, though easier than Giran. Archers will find slow monsters here as well, such as Ghouls and Hangman Trees (watch out for their Dryad Root spell!).
You may also move back into the Wastelands if you're a dagger user; by this time you should be strong enough to solo the monsters there. There is another adena quest involving Golems here; you can get it from Trader Rolento at the southern entrance of the Wastelands.
Taking on Cruma Tower
For a challenge, you may wish to venture into Cruma Tower. All monsters inside are above level 40 and have triple HP and triple experience. If you plan to hunt there between levels 35 and 40, the guide recommends forming a full group of 9 people beforehand. You can keep hunting on Cruma’s first floor until level 40.
Archers should consider switching to a dagger here. There are many golem-type monsters, and you will run out of arrows and MP very quickly, taking you out of the group experience. For this reason, experienced groups heading to Cruma are often hesitant to accept archers.
Camping: holding a room
Camping means that a player or group takes over a room: first kill all its monsters, then kill them as they respawn. This reduces the risk of several monsters attacking you at once.
Camping etiquette
If someone is already camping a room, leave them be.
If someone invades your room, remember that they might not understand that you do not want help.
If you are camping a monster needed for a quest, give other people a turn. Not only is it polite, but it saves you a scolding from a Game Master!
